Hi,

I just recently upgraded my Sensation to ICS 4.0.3. However its battery life seems to worsen by some extent. I realised that a substantial amount of battery was drained overnight during cell standby and phone idle (when I go to bed). The drain was about 17% for cell standby and 15% for phone idle, totalling to about 32% of the battery gone. I even turn off my mobile network before going to bed (my WiFi, Bluetooth, etc are always off unless I need to use them)

When I was still using Gingerbread 2.3.4. just a few days ago before the upgrade, only about 2 or 3% of the battery is drained overnight (with mobile network, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc switched off)

I'm quite a light user, hence I cannot really understand why there is so much battery drain. This has been going on for quite a few days now. Please help! Sad

If you have recently upgraded to have it give it chance to settledown. On the first few days  let run to 5% then fully recharge and calibrate battery then see where you stand.

Also if that does not fix the issues then it could be your kernel, ril or even Rom do not match everyones different and every phone acts different with each radio/rils.

Thank you for your reply Smiley

Ok I'll try some of the "calibration techniques" suggested on many of the review websites for HTC Sensation. Hope it saves my battery! Smiley

Since ICS automatically turns on GPS, WiFi and web connections as the app needs them, I would first look at your apps and see if you have any sync'd, or enabled. Some apps you can stop by deleting data:

Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications

I know Facebook is a big offender. It turns on GPS even on Gingerbread.

Haha I know. My Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth etc are ALWAYS off. I only turn on Wifi if I need a faster speed or if mobile network isn't available. I never sync any applications either (always off, only manually sync when needed)

The battery drain is happening even without using my phone (and with those listed above turned off). I really don't wanna resort to turning off my phone before I go to bed in case of emergency calls and such.

Hi,I was getting a terrible battery drain also. Optimized settings etc still not much helped. I finally broke down and bought a extended life battery, it works like a charm! Their are expensive battery and not so expensive. I went with the Anker after reading the reviews on it, it's been amazing! I honestly get about 5 hours more on my  sensation! It's been a God send. I was surprised on how much more time I get now out of a charge ! The battery is from China however it's a good quality and really does what it claims! Best part is its about 20 dollars! It really made a difference for me. My phone does not get hot anymore like with my of battery! Look at the reviews for yourself. I'm very happy I made the switch! I'm no longer tethered to my charger! I'm finally free!  Tongue
