What i wana know is , if i revert back through that RUU file procedure, would that format my existing set up and personal files deleted or can i revert back without deletion of my personal files/setup in htc yet be able to save my setup? i know syn etc .. i need solution to revert back with no deletion or format of phone.

You mean not for *your* problem. Obviously it's for *someone's* problem.

Is there a fix by HTC yet? Please somebody help... Not yet. The problem is with countrycodes and a driver mismatch between the firmware and the kernel, you'll just have to keep pestering HTC support for an OTA fix.

Is there a fix by HTC yet? Please somebody help... HTC sent my a customer support questionnaire last week. Needless to say, I suggested to them that their support was lacking. They called me on Thursday, and asked why I rated them so low and how they could improve. I said they needed to publicly acknowledge the problem, let their agents know about the problem (instead of telling everyone from affected countries to factory reset the phone) and communicate that they were working on a fix and any ETA information. At this point the HTC person assured me they were working on a fix, but then proceeded to hang up on me. So make of it what you will. HTC clearly think they care about their customers, but when their customers suggest how they can improve they're a little more rude and close minded.

hi, as said in above post its likely a software problem. You might consider flashing a new Rom . I have 4.0 3 and just flashed virtuous Inquisition 4.2 to my device.Wifi works perfectly, hotspots working perfectly, wifi sharing working perfectly, I've lost NO functions whatsoever Depending on what your preference is, this Rom is very stable, fast, smooth, no problemat all whatsoever. It is a senceless ROM,witch has advantages in my opinion, however if you want sence thereare others available. This could be a solution to your Wifi problem. If you want Wi-Fi, consider this solution any Roms have functioning, wifi. Choose what suits you best. Of course you must be rooted, s off first. But it is a solution.Good luck to you and I wish you the best. I hope in some way this helped.

As I understand it, this is a software issue. It can be fixed, however you must root your phone and flash the appopriate software. I have 4.0.3 and my wifi is working perfectly. However, I'm rooted and flashed a different Rom. So of you want Wi-Fi then do this. If not, it will continue not to work. It's up to you. I don't regret rooting at all! It's opened a whole new world of possibilities.
---
You can go to XDA developers site and find Roms, I got my rom from virtiousrom.com. My rom is quite stable. It's Virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2, and I'm running Android 4.0.3. No problems . First s-off then root then you have the freedom to choose which Rom you want. The instructions for rooting can be found here, follow them carefully and you won't have a problem. Use the revolutionary method to s-off. I think it's easier. Print out instructions so you can refer to each and every step. This worked best for me because if you miss a step or forget one then it's more difficult. If you follow each step you will be just fine. I'm so grateful people took time to write out all the steps, it makes it so nice. I don't regret rooting for one second, it's given me a world of possibilities! I think you will agree. Best advice is follow instructions to a tee and you won't go wrong. I wish you the very best! You will be so happy to have everything functioning as it should be. Good luck!

Having waited a month and HTC are still telling people to factory reset their phones and WiFi, it's time for new tactics.
Anyone know any journalists or high profile bloggers? I'd like to involve one and get them to ask some pointed questions to HTC as to this problem. I don't think we even need an article written, but just some alarm bells goign off within HTC that they're going to be written up somewhere as disabling WiFi and not fixing it for over a month. For comparison - what would Apple do in the same situation?
Also - can anyone with this problem who's reported it to HTC please go back and ask them for RMA numbers and the contacts for their lawyers? Explain that these phones were sold with WiFi on the specification sheet, and clearly they do not have WiFi working, therefore they are in breach of contract for selling something which does not work.
HTC will probably suggest returning to the place of purchase, and I suspect most of us are using our internationally, so this is not a response we want - so we need to suggest to them outright that RMA to a local store in unacceptable due to a)needing the phone to support legal case or b) you're travelling and not close to the store you purchased.
I'm also intending to start targetting every name/contact I can find on HTC's website.
Also - anyone up for setting up a htcfaults domain & website? We can detail known issues with HTC phones and try a touch of SEO to make it relevant. (For isntance - the Desire overheating issues, this bug).
This may soudn drastic, but I'm now seriously annoyed at HTC and will be taking it out on them in every way a consumer can.
