Hello,

I just got HTC Sensation XL and having problems connecting to my Yahoo Mail account using the built-in Mail app.
Every time I try to connect yahoo mail I get this message: "Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding".
I connected my Hotmail account and there wasn't problem.
I tried to set up Yahoo mail with a different mail providers "Yahoo Mail "or "Other (POP3/IMAP)" and I every time I get the same message that server is not responding.
Could you please help me??  Embarrassed Embarrassed

Thank you very much!

Hi emmahtc

Maybe it's just that - the server is not responding. Happens all the time. Try a different time of day, maybe in a different location to get a better connection.

I just read on the internet, it seems that I am not alone with this problem, other people complain about the same thing and they can't find a solution.
Thanks for the reply, will try again tomorrow in another location.

Also, consider using Gmail. Since Google owns Android (the OS on your phone)  it makes sense to use Gmail. Open the Gmail account on your computer. It can be configured to import your contacts and to retrieve all email sent to your old email address, so you don't really have to change anything except the settings in Gmail.

All this will automatically populate the Gmail app on your phone. Contacts will sync with the SMS (texting) client and street addresses will also sync with Google Navigation. You just need to add that account to the phone's system settings. It makes things very convenient.

I have a Gmail account and I opened it just for HTC phone (market, contacts). I don't use it for other things, but I'll try to do what you have said. It looks pretty good, all in one place.
Can I open two Gmail addresses with two different names and get a separate notification on the phone?
If I understood you properly, I am able to transfer all emails from other addresses  (yahoo, hotmail) to Gmail account?
I see that I can add a new account to my existing Gmail account. Does that mean that I can open a new Gmail account (with different name) or I can add a yahoo or hotmail account to gmail (the things you wrote above)?

Thanks for your help Smiley

Do all this on the PC. In Gmail settings, you can import incoming mail from other email accounts, import your address book, etc - then all you really need to do is just use Gmail from then on. Gmali also allows you to use alias sender addresses, but they are verified.

Anyway, just a suggestion to consider.
