Can anyone help me? I rooted my phone with the coredroid rom and it ran ok, but sometimes it froze and i couldn't use myo2 app and twitter, so I decided to try and remove it and take it back to stock rom. So I followed the instructions to get the s-on, once i did the "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" bit the screen went black and now i can't switch it on, it looks bricked, nothing is happening? no light or anything?

What did i do?

The phone wont turn on anymore at all? Also not after pulling battery and put it back in?
No response in anyway? No fastboot/adb responses either when you start the daemon and connect the phone? It doesnt find the phone with fastboot/adb?
Does your charge light lit when you plug the charger in?

If so, except for charge light, then I am afraid I for one cannot help you out and I do think it is bricked.

Hi thank you for the reply.

The phone is showing no sign of life at all, I tried everything, no charge light or anything, although the pc sees it when i plug it into the usb (QHSUSB_DLOAD), but it can't detect drivers for it.

I have jailbroken many iphones before, this was my first HTC trying out this rooting, but it is still in the 28 days period and O2 said they will replace it.

If the computer recognizes it then you are probably able to hook it up to ADB or FastBoot, one of them will most likely do recognize it where Windows cannot obtain the drivers.

If it can connect to ADB, you can write new software.

But if it is replaced free of charge (Note: if they find out when it get's back that you rooted it: they will probably present you with a bill later...) you could try that indeed! Smiley

I can't get into the fastboot screen as the phone isn't powering on at all.

I tried going into ADB and tried to see the connection, but it doesn't show any devices connected, any more suggestions?

I don't want the phone company coming back to me and charging me for this, so if I can fix it, I would prefer that,

Cheers

I meant fastboot app, addon to ADB.
50/50 chance it may see it when phone dumps in to panic.

If both do not see it, then no: I do not have any ideas.
You may wanna ask at XDA, but I dont think you will get a viable solution there either.
The term bricked was not invented for nothing i'm afraid.

Rooted, nerve wrecking I thought, but I managed it.

And I installed Titanium backup ! So I know I've got root !

The tutorial could benefit from a simplification.

AGREED. As I was putting all the commands in "quotes" lol. Huh?

Hi everybody :-)
I am a proud owner of a htc sensation running the new updated ics. I am a complete noob, but have heard and read good things about rooting the phone. I figured I would give it a go, but when googling I found so many different ways of rooting my phone so I got sceptical. I found this great forum while googling, and after looking around in here I figured this is the place to ask. So I ask you guys, which step by step guide would you recommend me following to have a sucessfully rooted sensation? Also, will i keep ics, or will it get downgraded during the root process?
I dualboot between ubuntu and win7 64 bit, so if any OS is better than the other during rooting please say so:-)
TIA

Hi! I have to say that I am also a noob in regards to android and I was a bit worried about rooting my HTC Sensation XL as well. After some searching on how to root, I have decided to try it and to be honest, it was easier than I thought. I managed to unlock the bootloader permanently and then successfully rooted my phone on the 1st attempt Smiley

So far, I have flashed 2 different ROMs, the CoreDroid v1.2 and the Ice Cold Zombi.e v1.3 ICS Sense 3.6 and both of them running perfectly fine. Cool

Gl to all!

I would suggest that you run the appropriate RUU, then root your phone.
Or you could try to flash another hboot with s-off.
Stay far away from the HTCDev tool.
