hello,
Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this piece:
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/mugen-power-3600mah-extended-battery-for-htc-sensation-with-battery-door.html

It does make Sensation a bit more like a brick but could be nice thing when you know that you'll be out for a while or traveling and just wanna torture phone with some extra use in the mean time.
What do you people think? Anyone got one of these to tell your experience?
Thanks!

I've always avoided the fat bats that required additional back piece.  Never used one. Makes docs, holders, cases, etc unusable.  This one, while presumably giving quite an extension of phone use, is ridiculously priced. I use a
1900 mAh Battery
that gives me all day use. I see no problem charging every night.  But as you mentioned, while on a trip a battery of this capacity might have its advantages.

Wow that really is ugly, lol. Makes your phone look like s--t.

I would also suggest a 1900mAh battery, they work fine and can last all day. I have the Anker battery, am very happy with it. If I need to use the phone really *really* much on a day then I can find it almost empty at the end of the day, then I can always put my charged stock battery in there Tongue

The 1900mAh gives plenty of power for normal usage to last all day, perhaps longer depending on your use. (With some uses it could last a few days)
You can always purchase a removeable cover with extra battery in there if you need to go on a trip. That's less expensive than the 3600mAh battery but will give even more battery life Wink

mirkoj if you do decide to buy it, please do come back and post review after you've used it for a week or two. I think a lot of us would be interested in reading the Pros/Cons.

Placed an order. It should start it's way tomorrow so will keep posted.
Yea I know that it looks a bit ugly but there are situations where I would like to be sure that I'm covered with battery even on expense of the look, and having that battery already attached on the phone is a bit better solution that caring additional batteries somewhere in the pockets.. oh well we will see what happens Smiley

my battery arrived! and a bit faster than I expected to be honest.
anyway one thing that I'm wondering about...
in instructions that I've got with it they also recommend initialization of battery, 8-12hours charging for the first 4-5 times and so on.
But the thing is that battery was already at 90%-95% full and it is green after just a 2-3 hours of charging. Now not sure whether to keep it connected to charger for full 8-12 hours or what...
As for ugly comments, well it is not so slim and beautiful that is for sure but on the other side it fits nice in the hand so.. will see how it behaves.

When Li-Ion batteries were multi-chamber there seemed to be advantages to initialization. There was a control in the battery that switched from chamber to chamber and purportedly  benefited by this calibration technique. We would drain the battery all the way down then put it on a slow charge. This was done usually 4 times to calibrate the battery. Personally, I never saw any advantage but others swore it improved battery life.

Standard Li-Ion batteries are now almost all one chamber and this is no longer needed, although you'll still read people advising it.

I have no idea how your Mugen is designed, but if the instructions say to do the initialization technique, then I guess it needs it.

so far so good,
got phone of the charge at ~7am in the morning, now it is almost 6pm, at this time battery usually was at 30%. now it is still at 65%.
Done standard amount of calls, some camera photo / video and my fiancee surfed for a while, basically almost same as before. well it is expected but it is nice to see that I don't have to turn every single feature on it to keep enough juice for calls Wink

I get the same performance with my Anker 1900mAh battery o0

I agree with Keyplyr, the cycles no longer seem required though indeed: many people swear by it and keep doing the "few cycles before full advantage" thingy.

well for cycles and charging.. it doesn't hurt to do 4-5 times initialization.. so if it doesn't hurt why not to do it just in case Smiley
After that will done will do some extensive testing through day to see how it behaves.
Seems impossible that 3600mAh works same as 1900mAh Smiley
maybe nice test would be just to put on an movie to run from ending charging till the need for next recharge and see how it goes.
btw does for example move reproduction or call spend battery faster?
I have free call with 1 number so I can test with an open call for couple hours as well Smiley

But definitively technology that we have in batteries right now is waaaaaay to week for smart phones.
Instead of packing 100 of new thingies in phones it self my bet is that next big upgrade they should all focus in is new power source tech to keep these going.
They can probably pack quad core CPUs and even better graphics all ready but that would just suck everything from phone in couple sec.
Never mind the argument does phones really need so much CPU power Wink

Not just phones - power storage is a major concern in all areas of technology. Electric cars come to mind  Smiley

Just a small update on mugen.
I've noticed in the last couple days that my wifi signal is weaker and even loosing connection.
Now I tried putting back original battery and back and signal is working fine. Tested couple times so it seems like I'm getting weaker wifi signal with mugen cover now.
Weird thing is that has bin working perfectly for couple weeks.
I wrote to mugen and waiting for reply. wondering why this happens now and it worked perfectly before.
As for battery life it is good. with normal use, calls mostly and much surfing on the phone, I had it at 83% same day in the evening after unplugging in the morning. But that can always be debated what is normal and what extensive use but in any case I'm more happier with these than original, just to see about this wifi problem now.

yep, definitively problem with mugen back cover.
with it can only see 2 wifi spots around (mine and another one somewhere near) both pretty weak signals. back to original battery and cover  I can see 4 or 5 of spots, and mine got perfect signal. not sure how is it with mobile network internet connection but I'm not using that one too much really. at least for now.
Anyway even if this is the case just have to keep in mind, mugen seems as a nice battery if you are away from plug for a while or gonna use phone extensively, camera gps etc, but for wifi.. it still works but with some problems.
I'm waiting for reply from mugen provider to see if they have any ideas.
Now if we could get better back cover with even stronger built in antenna.. mmmm Wink
