Hi, I use ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 and I have noticed that if I make a backup in recovery mode,
the "time stamp" in the file name is off by 2 hours !!

If I do a backup from ROM Manager the "time stamp" is correct.

Which version CWM should I revert to to get correct time in the file name ?

I'll go ahead and test a few versions.

CWM v4.0.1.4
CWM v5.0.2.0

Where do you live?
ClockWork probably takes UTC time, or whatever timezone is the basic in the part of the world you live in, rather than keeping in mind what offset zone you are in.
For example, my phone will take GMT time in CWM, but when I boot my phone it will take GMT+1 plus daylight = GMT+2 = 2 hours difference from GMT time.

Sweden. Yes I thought of that and i checked, it is UTC +2 hours.

The funny thing is the discrepency between if I do a backup starting in recovery or if I go through ROM Manager.

If I restart in recovery and do a backup, then the time difference is -2 hours,
if I do the same starting from ROM Manager, the time will be correct.

I have heard it is down to how you enter recovery, if you are accessing it by the advanced power menu then apparently it is different to physically powering off your phone and going round that way

Ah yes, you must be in the same timezone as me then. (NL)
So you get UTC in CWM when booting in recovery.

It is rather logical that if you go through RomManager that you get your normal time.
It will keep your clock settings rather than reading the hardware clock basic timezone. The hardware clock will simply stay put, the software in Android only adds the extra hours for your timezone.

At least: that is my theory and if I look it over it makes perfect sense to what is happening.
But as always, I can of course be wrong with my reasoning.

I think you are spot on. Just a bit confusing if I make a backup using both methods. It has happened that a newer backup has gotten a "later" time,  so it will appear older if you only look at the file name.

Yeah I understand how it can be odd to see that, heh.
Perhaps raise it as a suggestion to the makers? Smiley Maybe they can do something about it in the new update.
